WHAT IS REIKI HEALING

The word Reiki (pronounced ‘ray – key’) translates from Japanese kanji – the Japanese system of writing – to mean ‘Universal Lifeforce Energy’. In broad terms, Reiki is a healing technique with origins in Japan, that reduces stress and induces deep relaxation. When we experience deep relaxation, natural healing occurs emotionally, mentally, physically and emotionally.

Reiki can be further translated as:

Rei = universe, spiritual consciousness, God, heavens

Ki = non-physical life energy that inhabits all living things, breathing life into; prana (Sanskrit translation); qi (Chinese translation)

Reiki has no religious affiliations. It is often referred to as a spiritual practice because a Reiki session reconnects our awareness introspectively and with the non-tangible aspects of our human life experience.

Some general foundations for understanding Reiki include:

  • Lifeforce energy flows within and all around us in our non-subtle or physical body – cells, solid tissues, blood, bodily fluids & organs – as well as through our subtle body which includes our chakras, meridians or nadis, auric layers and dantian. This interpretation of the human body as an energy system has origins in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Vedic systems of wellness from India which are Aruveyda and Yoga, and in the modern field of Biofield Science.

  • The flow of this energy can become disrupted or blocked when we absorb or accept – consciously or unconsciously – negative thoughts and feelings. Also when toxins build in the body and these cells aggregate in a particular area of the body causing illness.

  • When our energy becomes disrupted or blocked, we can experience stress symptoms physically, mentally and psychologically.

  • We are all connected and a part of Universal Lifeforce Energy, which is in every living being and thing.

In receiving Reiki, we experience deep relaxation and release of energy blockages. Our energy system becomes balanced, energy is cleared and flowing. A holistic natural healing occurs, treating our physical body symptoms, as well as mental and emotional.

  • Reiki practitioners have endless support for maintaining well-being with a regular daily practice of self-Reiki. We can also use our self-Reiki to hel

  • Springtime can be a season of many pleasures for the senses. Flowering buds, flower pots brimming, scents of the blooms, sluggish worms creeping along

  • Whether we are physically together in the same room, or thousands of miles apart, together we can share Reiki. Reiki sessions are available in-person
