A SHINING LIGHT ~ LUCIE’S REIKI JOURNEY

I’m excited to share another REIKI SHINE: an opportunity to place a spotlight on the Inner Light, Wisdom and Insight inspired from one’s personal journey with Reiki in his/her/their own words. A journey with Reiki is personal, unique and the insights shared are inspiring. Read on!

Lucie (@aquamarinereiki) is a deeply intuitive, spiritually guided Reiki practitioner. Her compassion and warmth is among the first things you feel in her loving presence. She is a voracious reader and learner, dedicated to her Reiki practice. Thank you Lucie for sharing your insights with us!

What is your journey to Reiki?

When I was a child, I received the benefit of healing without the use of traditional medicine. First, when my parents brought me to see some monks at a monastery when I was experiencing what we thought were elevation sickness issues. The monks performed a healing ritual on my throat. When I was a little older, I suffered from bronchitis, and my Mom took me to her friend who prayed for my lung issues to be healed. In both instances I was fully healed. In the years that followed, if I had a stomach ache, I would put my hands on my tummy and the pain would go away.

In the 1990’s I trained in the martial art of Aikido. It was here that I was introduced to “ki” energy. One of my instructors could feel the tendonitis in my hand – without me telling him so – and he healed it. I was reintroduced to Reiki in the fall of 2020, when my mother received Reiki at hospice. At that point, my mother could not speak.  I asked her if Reiki helped her and she answered affirmatively by nodding and locking eyes with me.

After my mother passed away, I was suffering from insomnia and stress brought on by the pandemic, politics and dealing with my mother’s estate.  I decided to try Reiki and found Michel (my Reiki Master Teacher) online. My first treatment was extremely beneficial and interesting.  My insomnia and stress levels improved after one treatment.  The knee pain, which I did not tell Michel about, completely disappeared.

What made you want to become a Reiki practitioner?

After that first session, I was immediately curious how she “shared Reiki” with me. Early on during ongoing monthly Reiki sessions, I felt a calling that my next step was to learn Reiki. When the timing felt right, I obtained my Reiki Level One and Two attunement and training from Michel. I always knew I would open a Reiki practice to share Reiki with others, it was just a matter of when.  On one of my walks in my Denver neighborhood, I noticed a mission style Episcopal Church, called Saint Thomas.  I learned that they had office space to rent and everything fell into place. I’m excited to offer Reiki sessions in-person and remotely from that very office. My practice is Aquamarine Reiki.

What advice do you have for someone interested in Reiki training and attunements?

Practice on your friends and family members. Personally,  I find sharing Reiki with loved ones the most satisfying work of my lifetime.   Also, do not compare yourself to others.  It is obvious but everyone has different talents and skills.   It took me weeks to be able to draw the symbols (learned in Reiki level two training).  Your past endeavors will aid your practice.  I was already acquainted with breathwork so it easily worked into my Reiki practice.  Do not cheat yourself.  Practice self-Reiki every day even if you feel distracted.

What lessons have you learned so far about building a Reiki practice as a business?

Everyone says it takes a while to build a practice.  That is true.  There is a lot of marketing involved including social media, business cards, websites etc.  Some of the marketing is creative and enjoyable.  Keep track of your expenses, for yourself and for your accountant.
