ABOUT ME

Reiki has been my bridge to experiencing inner peace, better health and a consistent state of well-being. I was first introduced to Reiki 30 years ago when a psychotherapist recommended I try it in conjunction with our work together. From childhood a sense of wonder around this unseen part of ourselves referred to as ‘light and energy’ fascinated me, however this invitation from a traditionally trained clinician opened my perspective to alternative healing options. Living in Arizona at the time, I spent as much time as I could hiking in Sedona. It was there in the vortexes and in the landscape my lived experience and understanding of light and energy expanded.

Over those years, Reiki sessions were a core part of my self-care routine. Especially if I felt overwhelmed by work stress, or if I needed help coping with a difficult life situation or relationship, or I needed a boost to achieve my goals, Reiki jump started the shift I needed to get me going in a positive direction. It felt like a ‘reset’ for my balance mentally and emotionally, reconnecting me to my inner wisdom. With each session I felt undeniably centered and grounded again.

My commitment for a path of mastery in Reiki began in 2017. Looking back on that period of time in my life, I was yearning for how my experience of light and energy – which I came to call universal lifeforce energy – could take form in a meaningful livelihood. Reiki Mastery is a personal and spiritual commitment to learn, grow and heal in an ongoing way. It is never a final destination or final achievement. My Reiki Mastery Journey is a moment to moment practice and lifestyle. It includes a daily self-Reiki practice; offering Reiki sessions and Reiki to the world; exploring Reiki’s possibilities in new ways; continuing training and learning with Reiki Masters as well as keeping up with the plethora of latest Reiki publications and research. It is an amazing time for Reiki in the world! I enjoy learning different perspectives and styles of Reiki. With a curious lens, recognizing everyone has something to teach me, I am open yet discerning in incorporating what resonates for how I offer and teach Reiki, which I encourage with my clients and students who train with me.

My Reiki Master Teacher level training and attunements include Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki, Usui Reiki Ryoho, Karuna Reiki and Holy Fire Reiki with individually practicing teachers as well as Reiki organizations which include the International Center for Reiki Training and the Animal Reiki Alliance. My training classes have been live, in-person and online with teachers whose styles lean to Western style Reiki as well as more Japanese-style techniques. My class training and attunements include how to teach Reiki classes and offer attunements in-person and online. Some of my Reiki training includes a focus on specific conditions such as cancer, Covid-19 and long-term Covid. My class training includes offering Reiki to humans and animals of all species.

My non-Reiki experience includes over 25 years of working mainly in corporations, small private business, education and nonprofits. I held many different positions ranging from sales/marketing roles to supply chain, from childcare owner to client engagement specialist for a therapy practice. I’ve benefited from a variety of professional development training in these sectors including Cultural Competency and Six Sigma. Looking back on my career path, I have always been curious about people and having lived experiences to learn something new which challenges my abilities and beliefs.

Growing up in Upstate New York, it felt practical to begin life as a young adult in the area and I obtained a B.A. in Communications from SUNY Oswego. Eventually I moved across the country, and obtained a Masters degree in Education Administration from Arizona State University, living most of my adult life in the Mountain West region of the U.S.

Volunteerism is a consistent part of my life’s fabric. Ways I’ve volunteered over the years includes being a Reiki practitioner for hospice and cancer patients,  a suicide bereavement support group leader, senior citizen community activity liaison, board member and contributor for event planning and fundraising efforts for community food banks. I am a proud service partner and volunteer with Impact Montana.

I’m grateful for working with many different people in different environments. This path has helped me in understanding myself and the world, so that I may serve and connect with others meaningfully through Reiki. It also prepared me for managing the business aspects of having a Reiki practice.

In 2018 I launched Peace Bridge Reiki in Denver, Colorado and in 2022 I moved my physical practice to Helena, Montana. I love sharing Reiki with clients and students locally and globally.

This ‘About’ page would be incomplete without my mentioning my loving husband Dean, and our pup Bijou. Dean was my very first Reiki client, and Bijou was by my side during animal Reiki class and many Reiki sessions. The three of us have been enjoying new adventures exploring all Montana has to offer, especially in the way of outdoor activities.
