06 Jun Reiki as a Sanctuary During Uncertain Times
In today’s era of nonstop headlines and unpredictable global events, feelings of anxiety and overwhelm are common. While the world may seem to be in perpetual flux, your inner peace doesn’t have to be. Reiki offers support during turbulent and uncertain times.
There are a few ways Reiki sessions are offered: (1) with a practitioner in an in-person session at their studio, or some other physical location, such as where the client is in need of a session (hospital, assisted living center, hospice, etc.) (2) with a practitioner in a distance session where the client is at their home, hospital, assisted living center, hospice, vacation or anywhere; and (3) self-Reiki, meaning offering a Reiki session or a few minutes of Reiki to yourself.
Sessions are a focused time to balance the body and the mind, contributing to calmness and overall improved well-being. Sessions bring your awareness towards the infinite lifeforce within you, whatever you name that lifeforce to be. For these reasons, Reiki is a practical way to meet the demands of living today, and a way to contribute peace to those around us too.
Treat your Reiki session like a sanctuary. This scheduled period of time with your Reiki practitioner, who is akin to a companion and a guide as you drift into an experience of exploring and experiencing awareness with lifeforce energy. Identifying reactions can be physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is a shared experience.
By learning Reiki, you can create your own schedule and offer Reiki on the fly to yourself and others. Many practitioners enjoy offering Reiki to themselves in the morning upon waking, or in the evening before bedtime. It can be offered in the middle of the night when having trouble sleeping. Self-Reiki can feel like a sanctuary for one. Some schedule mini-Reiki sessions in the middle of their workday. Self-Reiki can be offered in the moment discreetly while standing in line at the grocery store or in between meetings at work. They may offer Reiki to loved ones and those in need. In this way, their sanctuary is everywhere and anywhere. And just like anything else, the more you practice, the greater the benefits.
In addition to the sessions described, there are other ways Reiki is shared and offered. In the past 50 years while Reiki has spread across the Western world, it evolved to being offered in combination with massage, yoga, sound healing, breathwork, cacao or tea ceremonies, to name some examples. There are hairdressers who offer Reiki as part of their service, and estheticians who offer facials with Reiki. There are psychotherapists who offer Reiki alongside their therapy sessions. In this way, practitioners can integrate their Reiki practice with other professional and holistic practices.
Reiki is a pathway to experience greater peace during times of uncertainty. Schedule now or reach out for a consultation.
