12 Feb Why Take a Reiki Level 2 Training Class?
Have you taken Reiki Level One class and considering your next step? What is taught in the second class? What benefits are there from the Reiki Level Two training? Some teachers include level one and two in the same weekend or period of days of class. Some Reiki teachers, myself included, allow for 21 days of self-Reiki at a minimum before taking level two.
Benefits of Reiki Level Two Training
In Reiki Level Two class, there are aspects which makes this class stand out from Level One Class. It is especially important to note that just as you and every other student/practitioner has different unique motivations for learning Reiki, each of you will experience the impacts of the class uniquely. Contributing factors includes the degree of regularity with which you are practicing Reiki, which includes self-Reiki and sharing with others, and bringing in a conscious awareness of Reiki as you go about your day. You may wish to be a part of a Reiki community, join in Reiki Shares, and connecting in an ongoing dialogue with your Reiki Teacher. With a perspective of curiosity, exploration and self-grace as you go, practitioners embark on what I like to refer to as a ‘Reiki Journey’.
From anecdotal stories shared with me from Reiki practitioners and from my own experience, here are some benefits of Reiki Level Two training with a regular self-Reiki practice:
-
- experiencing greater inner peace and calm
- spiritual expansion
- feelings of hope or seeing the “bigger picture” during tough times
- a decrease in anxiety, rumination and mental chatter
- clearer thinking
- gaining a greater awareness for “triggers” and desire to move forward in new ways for family dynamics, past trauma, long held beliefs or old self-defining stories
- movement forward in what previously felt like a ‘stuck’ life pattern
- expanding levels of compassion and love
- feeling for a readiness to try something new or take a new course in life (career, relationship, travel adventures, etc.)
- creative pathways for expression can emerge in new ways
- capacity for seeing different perspectives or possibilities for solutions broadens
- gaining new perspectives for one’s chronic health conditions
- gaining new perspectives on witnessing other’s healing for chronic and pain conditions
- feeling stronger ‘potency’ for Reiki energy within and in sharing with others
- prioritizing wellness and self-care including setting personal boundaries
- abilities for senses that previously lay dormant opening up further such as clairvoyance, clairsentience, clairaudience, etc.
- inclination towards meditation or feeling more ease in a meditation practice
- greater sensitivity with feeling energy, recognizing the greater importance of regular self-practice for balancing and clearing one’s energy system
- increased confidence in one’s Reiki practice, inner wisdom and intuition
- inspiration and confidence to explore more ways to engage Reiki into activities such as creativity, physical exercise, career, housework, volunteering and more
What is Generally Taught in Reiki Level 2 Training Classes
I like to describe Reiki Level One as the class where you begin a new relationship with Reiki. Your relationship grows as you apply what you learn from class by feeling the different sensations of energy through your hands, through your body and with others. You learn how energy feels blocked, flowing and indicators for you that builds confidence in detecting these differences. I teach Reiki Level One separately from Level Two, to provide a chance to allow time – which includes 21 consecutive days of self-Reiki – for relationship building through this experience. Some teachers teach Level One and Two in the same weekend or week. It is beautiful the many options of Reiki classes and teachers available to us. When selecting Reiki training classes and a teacher, I encourage you tune into what feels right for you.
Reiki Level Two training techniques highlight three Reiki symbols which amplifies the healing as well as the feeling of Reiki within the practitioner, the receiver of Reiki and the impacts for the results of Reiki healing. While Level One training emphasizes more of the feelings of sensations of energy flow and Reiki, I like to describe it this way: Level Two takes our experiences with Reiki further by inviting conscious awareness with application of the symbols.
Here are the techniques and subject matter topics most often included in a Reiki Level Two training:
-
- Reiki healing in more targeted ways through the application of symbols, breath, touch and more.
- Addressing specific physical, emotional, and spiritual issues, enabling options to tailor Reiki sessions based on the receiver’s intentions or goals
- Grounding your energy field and maintaining energetic protection regardless of circumstances around you
- Clearing and cleansing physical environments of negative or toxic energy (home, car, office, venue, etc.)
- Protection practice for these physical environments (home, car, office, venue, etc.)
- Healing past trauma, past events, relationship-related issues
- Healing of chronic and physical conditions
- Use of Reiki symbol techniques with children, animals, plants, food, etc.
- How to offer Reiki sessions to receivers who are not physically present in the room – offered ‘Distance Reiki’ or ‘Remote Reiki’ – this includes individuals and groups
- Offering Reiki healing and support towards relieving suffering and resolution for global issues and world events
- Reiki for support of affirmations, goal attainment and future outcomes
- Understanding of ethical considerations and professional standards in all settings (family, business, volunteering) and understanding any existing or potentially new state regulation requirements
- Providing resources for Reiki industry publications, training events, professional organizations, teachers and thought leaders
This list is a general guideline. Depending on your teacher’s methods and the style of Reiki or lineage you are learning, your level two class could also include meditation techniques, certain Japanese style techniques, shamanic practices, use of crystals, Oracle cards, mantra, breathwork and sound healing might be additional areas the teacher may include in their classes, as they may teach other modalities.
Reiki Level 2 Training ~ What Will You Do Next?
I often get the question, “How much time do I need to wait before moving from Level One to Level Two class?”. In the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage which I teach, moving to the next levels of Reiki are determined mainly by the practitioner and with feedback from the teacher. Your readiness to move to the next level is a combination of your use of Reiki as well as the readiness or your inner guidance to move forward in your Reiki Journey.
So what will you do now? The possibilities for Reiki’s natural healing, for powerful transformation and self-discovery are endless!
