Ten Ways to Rekindle Your Reiki Practice

Learning Reiki is an invitation, a calling which you heard and followed through on, Reiki is always within you like a ceaseless flame. Your connection and pathway for a higher vibrational energy to flow through you is with you forevermore. We recognize that this world we live in is full of distractions and “to do’s”. If your Reiki practice has been ‘put on the back burner’ of your life or isn’t felt actively in your day to day, Reiki is ALWAYS present and available to you. It doesn’t matter how many days, weeks or years have passed.

The Benefits of Your Reiki Practice

You are your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Reiki is a natural healing system that supports all of these aspects of you, nothing is left out. Since everything is energy including you, how empowering it is to know that with Reiki you can clear, balance, and ground the energy that flows through you as well as to radiate a higher vibration of energy around you! You can contribute to the quality of your well-being in how you feel, the vitality and healing that takes place. You can offer support for others and the world to feel and heal better too. You may be aware, Reiki research continues to grow in how it can treat various physical, mental and emotional issues such as chronic pain, reduction of stress, anxiety and depression, improving sleep, and so much more. An active practice of Reiki connects you to feeling calm and peace, it contributes to the health and vitality. If you identify yourself as an empath or a highly sensitive person, a self-Reiki practice strengthens your energetic resiliency, opening up opportunities to engage more in the world. People of all ages – including kids – can learn Reiki, and explore how it supports their unique needs and goals in life.

Ways of Practicing Reiki

Self-Reiki is the first step as you feel the flow of Reiki and its benefits from your own hands and lived experience. This can be at a scheduled time of day, upon waking or before bed. It can also be in the moment of the day when you are feeling tension or illness, and desire support right then.

Practice Reiki by offering it to others. After practicing in class, join in Reiki Shares in your community. Offering Reiki to those you know like family, friends, pets or plants may feel most comfortable in the beginning.

Other ways of practicing Reiki is to explore and get curious about Reiki in new ways. Feel the flow of Reiki as you go for a walk in nature, hug a tree, take a dip in the lake, cook, workout at the gym, attend a yoga class, make pottery, take photos, put your children to bed, work in your garden, play the guitar, etc. As your Reiki hands are touching and moving, infusing them with Reiki. If you enjoy crystals or stones, or wear malas, infuse these with Reiki as you cleanse them energetically.

The practice of Reiki includes time for self-reflection and noticing how Reiki affects the quality of your life. Journaling is very helpful, documenting any trendings you notice might contribute to building your confidence in your practice.

Top Ten Ways to Rekindle Your Reiki Practice

If Reiki has been on the backburner, and you wish to reignite that calling you felt from the beginning when you first learned Reiki, you can pick back up where you left off easily. Here are some suggestions for rekindling the flame of your Reiki practice:

  1. Take a moment to lay your Reiki hands on your heart and have an intention to bring Reiki into your heart with a deep inhale, hold the breath as feels comfortable, and exhale with an intention of breathing Reiki through your heart. Do this a few times.
  2. Pull out your Reiki materials from class and reread them. Also for help with number 3 and 4 below.
  3. Enjoy a Gassho meditation.
  4. Take a salt bath infused with Reiki. 1.5-2 cups of salt in the temperature of water that you enjoy. Soak for up to 45 minutes if you are able, longer if you feel you need it. As you soak, imbue the water with Reiki.
  5. Open up to a random page in one of your training manuals – or close your eyes and choose any random page. Read the page with an open perspective and reflect on how this information is useful for your Reiki Journey right now.
  6. Reach out to your Reiki teacher for support or resources. Ask them if they had ever experienced a lapse in their Reiki practice before and what they have done.
  7. Consider a repeater Reiki class offered by your teacher. Often teachers will offer this for less cost. Even if your teacher doesn’t advertise this, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
  8. Consider taking a Reiki training with a new teacher to expand your experience of learning Reiki,
  9. Attend a Reiki Share in-person or online to feel the connection of being with other practitioners. You could ask them if they ever had a lapse in their Reiki practice and what they have done or what they do to continue growing in their practice.
  10. There are many Reiki books, websites, videos on YouTube with Reiki sessions, classes and nuggets of inspiration. Be aware how this time spent is positively contributing to your rekindled Reiki practice.
